Exactly a year after K College launched its own hairdressing salon in Dover town centre, beauty students are now expanding the business.

Celine McGeown, curriculum development manager for learner and client experience at the college’s Dover campus said: “Both clients and students are benefiting from the salon experience.

“The salon celebrates its first year open in Biggin Street this month and the main focus has been hair, now our beauty offering is now fully up and running.

"Clients love the fact that they can pop into during their breaks to get a treatment ranging from a wax, facial, massage, manicure & Pedicure, eye treatment and, coming soon, tanning.”

K College level two students went in over the Easter holidays especially to complete a number of assessments needed to qualify this year.

Jessica Hutchings, who lives in Dover, said: “It was really scary at first but it was such a good experience. It gives you an idea of what it will be like to work in a real environment - it’s a lot different from the training salon.”

Sinead Irvine, also from Dover, said how much she enjoyed the experience and added that clients said that they liked being able to have a manicure and get their hair done at the same time.

To mark the anniversary students are hosting a mini taster evening on Monday May 13 from 6-9.30pm at the salon. Anyone who would like to treat themselves to a mini pamper, manicure, hand massage, pedicure or facial should book their place on 01304 207969.

Each treatment will be £5 and takes 15 minutes. K Salon will send confirmation of the appointment date and time.
