Two arrests after gun alert near The Plough pub in Dover

Two men have been arrested by officers responding to reports of a firearms incident in Dover.

Police were called to the B2011 Folkestone road near The Plough public house on the outskirts of Dover at 11pm last night after a man was seen with a handgun.

One man was arrested and a firearm was seized just before 11.30pm.

The police helicopter joined in the search and officers arrested a second man in possession of a firearm at 4.30am.

The road, which had been closed as a precaution, was re-opened at 4.50am.
