A violent thug stabbed a Deal mum of three – leaving her physically and mentally scarred - after spotting her counting money in her own home.

Kieran Green armed himself with two knives and broke into the house last December demanding cash from his terrified victim.

A judge at Canterbury Crown Court heard how he had seen Sarah McMillan after looking in through her front window of her house in Davis Avenue, which overlooked the street.

Kieran Green was sentenced to 10 years

The 20-year-old brandished the weapons as Ms McMillan sat on her sofa with two of her children, aged four and two years.

“This has had a profound effect on her and her children and she no longer feels safe in her home and is now trying to move away” - Judge Adele Williams

Now Green, of St Martin’s Road, Deal has been jailed for 10 years after admitting aggravated burglary, wounding with intent, common assault and possessing two knives illegally.

Bridget Todd, prosecuting, told Ms McMillan was a total stranger to Green as he cycled past her home on his BMX bike.

She was counting some money while she sat on her sofa with the children.

Ms Todd said Green broke in and repeatedly demanded she hand over the money – and when she stood up he stabbed her in the thigh.

“She bled profusely and began screaming for help from her neighbours and the incident was witnessed by her 13 year old daughter.

“McMillan was taken to hospital and needed urgent treatment for a five centimetre wound to her right thigh, “ she added.

Green fled on his bike empty-handed but later confronted a 15-year-old boy in the street screaming: “What the f*** are you looking at?”

He then produced a knife before punching the teenager in the mouth, cutting his lip, the court heard.

The yob was later arrested and police found him carrying two knife – and the blood of Ms McMillan was found on his tracksuit bottoms.

The case was heard at Canterbury Crown Court

Judge Adele Williams told him: “I have read a personal victim statement which makes it plain just how terrified Ms McMillan was being attacked in her own home.

“She was terrified, not only for herself, but for her three children and has had to deal with the injury and has been left with a permanent scar.

“This has had a profound effect on her and her children and she no longer feels safe in her home and is now trying to move away.”

Green – who already has 27 convictions, many for assault, possessing knives and drugs – was jailed for a total of 10 years.
