Walmer & Kingsdown professional Richard Wallis won the PGA Surrey Open at Gatton Manor GC after a play-off.

Wallis, who collected a cheque for £2,000, won the title with a par four on the first play-off hole against Tom Fleming (Frilford Heath).

A delighted Wallis (pictured) said afterwards: "This is fantastic as I’ve been struggling with my form.

"My confidence took a battering from the BMW PGA Championship and Wales Open, but I’ve now found the swing that I’ve been searching for.

"I drove well, made a lot of good iron shots, was patient and kept things simple. I’m really looking forward to challenging again for the PGA South region Order of Merit title."
