Firefighters have advised Deal residents to secure the back of their properties after an incident yesterday.

A crew was called to the Spice Of India in Beauchamp Avenue at around 3pm.

The outside storing at the back of the takeaway shop had caught alight.

Using two appliances, the crew extinguished the blaze within an hour and 20 minutes.

Watch manger Malcolm Cowie said: “We don’t know how it happened but we’d like to advise people to secure the back of their properties.”
