Police appeal for witnesses to Deal stabbing in St George's Church grounds

An appeal for witnesses has been released more than a week after a stabbing in Deal.

A man in his 20s was taken to Kings College Hospital in London after the alleged assault in St George's Road, in the early hours of Sunday, January 24.

The incident is said to have happened at 2.30am within the grounds of St George's Church.

Two men aged 17 and 20 from Deal have been arrested on suspicion of assault and have been bailed until Monday, April 4.

The victim, who has now been released from hospital, sustained stab wounds.

Investigating officer Det Cons Natalie Davison said: "The victim had been out in Dealwith three friends that night.

"They said that before the assault took place they had a verbal altercation with two men in Deal High Street, close to the junction with Stanhope Road.

"The victim and his friends reported that they were chased along the High Streetand into the church grounds.

"The victim was subjected to the assault after he became separated from his friends."
