A woman who was alleged to be found badly beaten in Deal has told police she was not assaulted.

Facebook reports suggested a young woman had been attacked while walking home in the dark along Blenheim Road, near Beaconsfield Road, on Friday night.

Police denied any record of the incident yesterday, but today said: “A member of public phoned police on Sunday afternoon to report that they suspected a woman had been assaulted, as she appeared to have a swollen face and was bleeding.

“However, when police spoke to her to check on her welfare she made no allegation of assault.”

According to the social media site, passers by helped the woman who is believed to have had a cut eye.

A resident from Beaconsfield Road gave her a blanket, water and first aid kit, and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived.

Despite this, SECamb also has no record of the incident.

A spokesman said: “All calls we received to Deal that night were to private residential addresses, which we don’t comment on the detail of. None of these were Blenheim Road.”
