SAUL Page, from Deal, continued his recent run of successes in local sea angling competitions by winning the Folkestone Open, fished at Seabrook.

Drawn at peg 34 on Prince’s Parade, Page landed 17 whiting and dabs plus a valuable codling of 2lb 4oz for a winning weight of 9lb 7oz, winning £150.

Second was Mick Davies, of Deal, with 7lb 6oz, and he included a specimen dab of 1lb 0.5 oz and a 2lb 5oz codling to win the biggest round and biggest flat fish pools. Third was Danny Mogridge, from Portsmouth, with 7 lb 2oz.

Other events included the Dover Sea Angling Association’s Admiralty Pier event fished from the extension of the pier.

The winner was Kevin Scott, of Deal, with 14.60kg, including a 3lb codling, plus 11 dogfish. Second was Brian Davis, of Deal, with 13.5kg and I was third with 13.20kg.

The Broadstairs Vikings SAC fished their Christmas competition over low water from the Thanet rocks. Winner was Kevin Lowry with three codling caught from the left hand side of the pipe at Foreness for 4 lb 11.5oz.
