THE two clubs involved in a junior football match which was abandoned at half-time by the referee last week have expressed their anger at the official’s actions.

Dave Chmura called a halt to the Deal & District Sunday League Division 1 game between Park Royals and Walmer Rovers after saying he "had enough of the persistent haranguing and snide remarks I was subjected to during the first 45 minutes."

But Walmer Rovers have written to the league committee complaining about the referee’s behaviour while Gary Brown, manager of Park Royals, said: "My ethos and the one that is instilled into our players is to treat the officials with respect and not to annoy them in any way.

"So to be accused of being guilty of everything that we stand against is deeply insulting to everyone associated with our club."
