The A20 southbound is gridlocked as the Port of Dover experiences high volumes of traffic.

This weekend is said to be the busiest for people making their festive getaway to other countries.

A port spokesman confirmed that traffic in Dover is congested for that reason.

People driving in Dover are advised to avoid the A20.

Motorists are stacked up as far as the Roundhill Tunnels in Folkestone, blocking the turn off to junction 14 at Hawkinge.
