The explosion of a Second World War bomb in the Calais mines is set to cause some disruption at the French port, but the effect at Dover should be minimal. The port will operate as normal.

The Port of Calais is set to be closed until 2.30pm, but the Port of Dover said it will operate as normal and continue to check-in traffic.

People travelling from Dover to Calais can travel and will be diverted away from the port when they reach the other side.

P&O Ferries will waive any cancellations or changes to travel arrangements.

A Port of Dover spokesman said: "The ferries are operating as normal and there is no disruption at Dover.

"Some traffic is being held at Calais and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused for reasons entirely outside of our control."
