Car crime cut by police operation

More than 30 people have been arrested for car crime during a month-long police campaign in south Kent.

Thefts of and from vehicles in October have been slashed by almost a half in the Dover, Deal, Folkestone and Ashford area compared to September.

The Buckland area of Dover is one of those targeted by police, involving dedicated patrols which have used a number of different tactics to prevent and deter offenders. As a result of this operation South Kent has seen a 45 per cent decrease in theft from motor vehicles and a 47 per cent decrease in theft of motor vehicles

compared to the month of September.

Officers made 32 arrests.

The operation is continuing throughout November to reduce the number of crimes even further.
