Cashpoint robbery: victim pushed aside by thief, Biggin Street, Dover

A robbery victim was pushed by a thief who stole money he had just taken out of a cashpoint.

A suspect was arrested just a couple of hours later.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was targeted just after midnight today in Biggin Street, Dover.

A police spokesman said: "The victim walked up to the machine and started to withdraw money.

"He saw a man he recognised walk up behind him and said hello.

"When the money was dispensed the man is reported to have pushed him aside and left with the cash."

The victim reported the robbery to police who straight away went on the hunt in the area.

At about 2am a man matching the description of the suspect was found walking along Wood Street.

The 36-year-old from Dover was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Police later said that the he was released under investigation and equiries were ongoing.
