The A256 London Road was blocked both ways due to an incident involving a car and a motorbike.

Long queues built up as a result of the crash, which took place between Whitfield Roundabout and London Road River.

Police were called to the collision at 5pm.

Officers said both the driver of the car and the motorcyclist were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Their injuries are not thought to be serious.
