A Lydden couple walked 26 miles in a Moonwalk on Saturday to raise money for breast cancer research.

Byron Colman, 30, and Sam Perrins, 21, of Canterbury Road wore their own decorated bras in the trek to and from Clapham Common in London.

They completed the round circuit, to and from Clapham Common in London in 6.5 hours.

The charity, called Walk the Walk aims to encourage people to fundraise.

The walk attracts thousands of people every year to do the walk, which begins at midnight.

Everyone that took part received a foil blanket, a moon walk cap and a rain mac.

This is not the first time they have taken part, as last year they completed the circuit in seven hours 20 minutes.

The couple embarked on a 20- mile walk last Sunday in preparation for their challenge.

Mr Colman’s mother, Maria Stanford, of Greenhithe, joined them for the fourth time.

Together the team has named itself Breastside Story.

They still need to raise a benchmark sum of £300 and have been appealing for sponsors to reach their target.

The team’s motivation comes from Mr Colman’s step grandma, of Horsham in West Sussex, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 87.

She had a mastectomy and is now 93.

The donations from previous Moonwalk’s have aided her recovery.

Miss Perrins said: “My auntie also had breast cancer and one of my friends had it as well.

“Their whole lives have been affected by it.

“It basically affects everyone, whether it is your auntie, friend, somebody you know. Everyone knows someone who is affected by cancer.”
