A wacky inventor has today succeeded in sending a farting noise over the Channel to France... from a giant pair of buttocks in Kent!

Zany inventor Colin Furze brought a bizarre 16ft-high farting machine to The Warren, near Folkestone, this evening.

Made with a pulsejet engine, he pointed the device at France - and sent flatulence sounds 21 miles across the sea.

He had housed the device in a huge pair of buttocks for the cross-Channel blowing off.

A crowd gathered as Mr Furze prepared to fire up the jet thruster and unleash the loud noise.

He was then seen celebrating after hearing the "fart" had been heard by people in France.

The pulse engine is understood to be the same type of jet thruster as to that used by the Nazis in their V-1 flying bombs during the Second World War.

Mr Furze said: "There are reports that in the war people could hear artillery fire from northern France.

"It's loud. It's very loud - and glows like the sun."

Mr Furze, a plumber from Stamford in Lincolnshire, outlined his zany plans in another video posted on YouTube.

It shows him designing, building and testing the bizarre invention.

A Calor Gas spokesman warned of the potential dangers of such a stunt.

He said: "Any pressurised vessel which contains a highly flammable and potentially explosive substance must be handled responsibly."
