A man from Dover has been ordered to pay more than £300 in costs for dropping a cigarette in the street.

Nicholas Gavin, of Elms Vale Road, pleaded guilty by post to the offence of depositing litter.

At Canterbury Magistrates Court on Wednesday (June 1) he was handed a bill for £317.

The prosecution was brought by Dover District Council, after an environmental enforcement officer saw Mr Galvin drop a cigarette in Elms Vale Road and then drive away.
