AT LEAST another 56 jobs could go at Dover-based P&O Ferries, it has been revealed.

The company says it has held meetings with representatives of its workforce concerning proposals to streamline its call centre, port services and operations departments at Dover.

"We have identified potential savings which, if implemented, would mean the loss of the equivalent of 56 full time shore jobs," said a company spokesman. "It is anticipated that any redundancies would take place at the end of December."

The company says it will consult with staff representatives over the coming weeks and will refrain from commenting further during the consultation period.
