A motorist travelling through the Port of Dover has appeared in court after police found two people in the boot of his car.
Nohman Shafi, 35, was pulled over at the port on Friday at 4.20pm and officers searched his vehicle.
Two men, thought to be asylum seekers, were found in the boot.
Shafi, of North Sted Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was arrested on suspicion of assisting people to gain illegal entry to the country.
He was later charged with two counts of facilitating entry into the UK and appeared before magistrates in Medway yesterday where he pleaded not guilty to both allegations.
Shafi was remanded in custody and the case was sent to Canterbury Crown Court to be dealt with.
A date for his next appearance is yet to be set.
