Dover, Deal and Sandwich are in the 'very high' category in today's severe pollution warning for the county.

The warning says the pollution is because of light easterly winds bringing in pollutants, and allowing those pollutants in the air to remain.

Towns and villages from Thanet down to Dover have been issued with the highest level of pollution warning - a 10 on a scale of one to 10.

The situation is not helped by the Saharan dust in the atmosphere and settling on cars.

The news brings a health warning to people in the most affected areas. Adults and children with lung problems, and adults with heart problems are advised to avoid strenuous physical exertion altogether, particularly outdoors.
