Four fire engines seen outside Dover Town Hall but it was a training exercise

Was there a major incident at a town hall?

That was the worry of residents when they saw four fire engines outside the Dover building.

But there was nothing to fear as this was a firefighters’ training session.

Resident Ann Stepney photographed the fire engines long distance.

She said Facebook’s Dover For Disgruntled Dovorians page: “Something going on at the Town Hall.”

But at Dover Fire Station spokesman explained to the Mercury: “This was a breathing apparatus training exercise.”

The scene was outside Dover Town Hall, from 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).

There were two pumps from Dover, one from Whitfield and one from Folkestone.

The crews carried out the exercise in the disused underground section of the building, which was the town’s 19th century jail.
