Firefighters tackle 'suspicious' car fire in Archers Court Road, Whitfield

Firefighters were called to a ‘suspicious’ car fire in Whitfield last night.

One crew attended the blazing green Volvo estate car in Church Whitfield Road off Archers Court Road at about 10.45pm.

They used breathing apparatus, hose reels and a small quantity of foam, extinguishing it within minutes.

The car has since been reported missing from Sandwich.

A spokesman from Dover Fire Station’s red watch said: “There was very little left of the car.

“Police also attended due to the suspicious ignition.”

Police press officer Martin Very said: "The car was subsequently reported as stolen from Dover Road, Sandwich, since 6pm on Thursday, February 2.

"Anyone who has any information can contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/004382/17.

"Alternatively contact Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
