If you want to launch a superliner just add a touch of Klass.

That is what ship owners thought when they invited classical musician Myleene Klass to help launch the Carnival Splendor at a ceremony in Dover on July 10.

Ms Klass will become the ship's "godmother" at the event.

And there will be another first. Instead of using the traditional bottle of champagne, Miami-based Carnival has chosen Nyetimber English Sparkling wine to smash against the hull.

Myleene Klass said: “I am very excited, and a little nervous, at becoming a Ship’s Godmother for the first time, especially when it involves naming a ship the size of

the Carnival Splendor."
