Fourth suspect remanded over cash machine raids

A FOURTH man has appeared in court following a spate of cash machine thefts in the county.

Unemployed John Panhandle-Smith, 30, of Snowdown Caravan Site, Aylesham Road, Dover, is charged with conspiracy to burgle.

He appeared before Dover magistrates on Saturday morning and was remanded in custody.

The charge relates to five incidents in January and February this year involving cash machines at New Romney, Hawkinge, Beltinge near Herne Bay, Sandwich, and Littlebourne.

Panhandle-Smith will appear before a judge at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday along with three other men.

They are Hizekiah Roberts, 30, an unemployed builder from Dickens Avenue, Canterbury, Darren Lee, 31, a labourer of The Meadows, New Romney, and Anthony Lee, 32, a builder from Greenbridge Park Caravan Site, Vauxhall Road, Canterbury.

Hizekiah Roberts is also charged with grievous bodily harm with intent to resist arrest.
