A fundraiser took place on Sunday to raise vital funds for a Dover teen's treatment trip to the US.

Bryoni Millar, of Buckland Avenue, has battled through operations in the last year to remove bone cancer from the back of her skull.

Her mother, Tara Bingham, of the same address, has gone to the effort of organising the fundraiser, called Benefit Music Afternoon at the Cricketers in Crabble Avenue to help raise the money.

Last year surgeons removed a large tumour, which surrounded her brain stem, but a tiny piece was left behind as it was deemed too dangerous to operate on.

Bryoni will undergo proton treatment in America, which aims to disperse the last piece of tumour without the risks of an operation.

The family wanted generate around £2,000 in order to cover the costs of Bryoni's grandma accompanying her.

The teen is flying out today and the treatment, funded by the NHS, is expected to take up to nine weeks.

Bryoni now has to live with partial facial paralysis and has lost the hearing in her left ear.

The music afternoon started at 2pm and included entertainment from locals Elliot Shore, Ryan Sart, Conor Cleere and Dan Richardson.

A raffle, packed with an array of prizes were available for people to take part in.

Children enjoyed face painting, the hook-a-duck pool and a bouncy castle.

There will be an entry fee of £2 for adults and 50p for children which will go towards donations.

Money topping the £2,000 mark will be donated to Kings College Hospital in London.
