Thomas Baker and Charlotte Hide, of Dover College, win prizes in Lions' peace poster contest

Two pupils from the same school have won first and third prizes in a peace poster competition.

Thomas Baker, 12, of Dover College, came first in the South East Region heat of the 29th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest, and Charlotte Hide, came third.

The Year 7 and 8 pupils’ entries were among more than 600,000 submitted worldwide.

Thomas said of his entry: “It portrays the world as one celebrating love, harmony and peace”.

Charlotte said her poster represented the world coming together in celebration of peace.

Dover Lions Club president Elaine Prime said: “It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them.

“I’m so proud that we were able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions.”

Thomas won a £30 Hobby Craft gift card and a £100 cheque for the college.

Charlotte won a £20 Hobby Craft gift card and a £50 cheque for her school.
