Buckland Hospital - councillors have have given their backing to the proposal to find a site for community hospital services.

Get a move on – that is the message to Dover councillors who are being urged to put forward the list of hospital services they would like to see provided in the town, otherwise they may miss the deadline.

Councillors have given their backing to the proposal to find a site for community hospital services.

But they have been urged to get on with putting forward the list of services they would like to see.

Lorraine Sencicle, former member of the Patient Public Involvement Forum, told members of the district council’s scrutiny committee there should be outpatients, diagnostic, minor injuries (6am to 9pm seven days a week), day surgery and some in-patient beds, specialist children’s facilities, renal dialysis, and end of life facilities, as well as intermediate beds for patients returning after surgery at other hospitals.

Committee chairman Cllr Jim Hood said he was concerned they would not have time to look at all the health issues before the deadline.

“If you don’t move fast, your views will not go in,” said Mrs Sencicle.
