A suspected illegal immigrant was detained by the Home Office after being spotted walking alongside a busy dual carriageway.

The Sudanese man, who is believed to have entered the country unlawfully, was spotted late last night walking down the A2.

The British Transport Police were first on the scene, but referred the matter to the Home Office.

His case will now proceed in line with UK immigration law.
