Jobcentre makes finding employment opportunities easier

NEW computer equipment has been installed at Dover Jobcentre to make it easier for people to find employment opportunities. Jobpoints are as easy to use as cash machines and allow users to search the 400,000 available jobs on the Employment Service database by the type of job they want to do and where they want to work.

They even allow people to look at jobs on a national or international level and offer nationwide coverage of training opportunities. Clients can obtain printouts of jobs which they then take to one of the advisers at the Jobcentre who can look up more information and give advice on how to apply.

The Jobpoints replace display boards that held cards with job descriptions printed on them, and they also guarantee that the jobs are always available and up-to-date.

"We hope job seekers will like using Jobpoints," said manager Carole McKeen. "They are not just for people who sign on here but for anyone who is looking for work or training."

Job seekers in Dover now have three options. They can use the new Jobpoints, call Employment Service Direct on 0845 6060234, or use the Internet and log on to www.worktrain.gov.uk to find work.
