A large debris fire in Dover that could be seen for miles is being investigated as suspected arson, it is understood.
Firefighters were called to the grassland, Whinless Down, at 7.13pm on Tuesday to tackle the blaze which was seen by various residents.
A spokesman said it is believed that the fire had been lit by someone and the pile was there as the area was being cleared.
He said the police had been informed and it is under investigation.
"We allowed it to burn out because the fire was under control," he said.
KentOnline has approached the police for a comment.
