A home in Mayfield Avenue, Dover, was hit by a lightning strike.

Lightning struck a home in Dover in the early hours of this morning, destroying its chimney.

Firefighters from Dover and Whitfield were called at 3.53am to a property in Mayfield Avenue.

Two pumps were sent but it is unknown whether the lightning caused a blaze.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Services said: "I don't know if it caused a fire or if anyone was injured.

"There was quite a lot of debris and crews were called back later on this morning."
