B&M will open its doors at the former Marks & Spencer store in Dover on Wednesday.

The Biggin Street store, which will be selling a range of household goods and food, will be officially opened by members of the town's RNLI lifeboat, which is the shop's chosen charity.

The store manager, Di Kelly, said: “The team at RNLI really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for local people in the community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.

“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

For over 165 years Dover lifeboats have been saving the lives of local people.

The station operates the largest lifeboat in the fleet, a Severn class lifeboat.

In addition to opening the new store, the station will also receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers to go towards the charity.

They will be joined by the mayor of Dover Cllr Gordon Cowan.

Ms Kelly added: “Our new colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day, we can’t wait to get the doors open on Wednesday and show customers their brand new B&M.”

The new store has undergone an internal and external refurbishment programme.

The firm has created 40 new jobs, contributing to the 48 already employed at the Honeywood Retail Park store in Dover.
