Death of Whitfield man Michael Bennett in Lisbon after fall on cruise ship was accidental, inquest hears

A man who died in Portugal after a fall in a cruise ship cabin had been feeling unwell earlier.

Michael Ernest Bennett, 82, of Bridal Way, Whitfield was on a cruise with his wife Joan and had complained of feeling unwell with a headache on December 24.

The inquest was held at Archbishop’s Palace, Maidstone

The retired managing director was found on the floor of his accommodation after he fell.

He later died at the Santa Maria Hospital, Lisbon on January 2.

A post mortem determined the cause of death was head injury.

At an inquest at the The Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone on April 9, Central and South East Kent assistant coroner Sonia Hayes ruled his death had been accidental.
