Dover MP Charlie Elphicke says he still does not know what allegations he faces over claims of harassment - two months after he was suspended from the party.

Prime Minister Theresa May today refused to be drawn on why the investigation was taking so long. Mr Elphicke was suspended from the party two months ago.

His suspension was supposedly related to claims of serious sexual harassment but he has remained in the dark over the details.

He has persistently denied any wrongdoing and said the saga had cast a long shadow over his family and Christmas.

He re-iterated today that he remained unaware of what claims had been made against him.

"It’s now two months since I was accused of unspecified allegations.

"To this day I have not been interviewed by the police and they have not told me what I am accused of or who my accuser is."

The Prime Minister refused to be drawn on the inquiry on a visit to Wokingham today.

Asked what she would like to say to the MP two months on from his suspension. She replied: “I am not going to comment on an individual case, this is a matter that is now for the police to investigate and that’s what’s happening.”
