Police are appealing for witnesses after the One Stop Shop in Whitifield was firstly broken into then set on fire just hours later on the weekend.

The store, in Bewsbury Cross Lane, was broken into just before 11pm on Saturday, where some cigarettes and a small quantity of cash were stolen.

A fire, thought to be started deliberately, ignited the doorway between 2.40-2.50am on Sunday which caused an estimated £4,000 worth of damage.
