Shops in Biggin Street and Cannon Street affected by power cut

Five shops in Dover's high street have been without power for more than eight hours today.

Engineers have been digging in Cannon Street and a fault on the underground electricity network is said to be the cause.

O2, EE, Santander bank, WH Smith and F Hinds in Biggin Street are the shops affected.

Biggin Street, Dover.

They have been powerless since 6.40am.

A statement from UK Power Networks said: "Engineers are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore electricity to five customers in the Biggin Street and Cannon Street area of Dover.

"We would like to reassure our customers that we are working hard to get their power back on to them as soon as we can and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
