Scooter rider dies after crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road accident today on the Folkestone Road near Dover.

At around 5.50am a car pulling out of the Plough public house was involved in a collision with a scooter.

The driver of the scooter, a 60-year-old man from Folkestone, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford where he was pronounced dead at 7.25am.

The driver of the car, a 38-year-old man from Scotland, was arrested at the scene in relation to the incident and was later being questioned at Dover Police Station.

Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the Chief of Staff office at Folkestone police station on 01303 289377.
