The lifeboat has been stood down but the search continues for a crew member who it is feared may have fallen off a barge.

The alarm raised before 11am today on a vessel stationed at Dover Cruise Terminal.

The crew member is thought to have been missing since last night, and no one has been able to contact him.

The Dover lifeboat searched the harbour this evening but did not find anything.

Speaking earlier today, Andy Roberts, the launching authority at the RNLI boathouse, said: "There was a four-hour search and now the lifeboat has just launched again because a cruise ship has just left and that may have moved the waters."

A Port of Dover spokesman said: “The Port of Dover Police and the RNLI have been assisting in the search for a crew member of a vessel moored in the Western Docks who may be missing. "The search is ongoing.”
