Rush hour traffic came to a standstill this morning after a lorry got stuck on a soft verge.

The A2 towards Whitfield was closed off from 7.33am while a recovery vehicle aided the truck out of the ditch.

Motorists were queuing as far as Jubilee Way.

Police officers were present assisting with keeping the area clear.
