Dover Athletic boss Chris Kinnear has nothing but praise for new Kings Hill Sports Park training venue

Dover boss Chris Kinnear gave Mercury reporter Richard Harvey a behind-the-scenes look at the club’s impressive new training venue –Kings Hill Sports Park.

And the complex, which is run by Kings Hill Parish Council, certainly caters for all of Whites’ needs during their three times-a-week training schedule.

Players loosen up on a 3G pitch before Kinnear and his coaching team take the outfield players away to go through their paces on one of the five grass pitches at their disposal.

Goalkeeping coach Lee Hook utilises one of the other pitches to work with Mitch Walker and Andy Rafferty on their handling of crosses before getting down to the business of shot stopping.

They then join the rest of the squad and play out different match scenarios.

Any players with niggles get treated in the physiotherapy room, while those working their way back to full fitness have access to a nearby gym.

After the rigours of training, Kinnear and his squad relax upstairs in the bar where they get served a hot meal before they head off in various car schools.

Kinnear has no doubt the venue ticked all the boxes when he was looking for a central training venue with his squad travelling from so many different places.

He said: “It’s so handy to the M20, so that was a great start. But it has everything we need and more. We don’t have to worry about anything.

“We’ve been looked after so well since we arranged with the council to utilise it and I am delighted with the decision to come here - I couldn’t be happier.”

And it’s not only Kinnear who is happy with the decision.

Kings Hill Sports Park manager Janine Brown said: “To have a team of their calibre using our facilities is fantastic.

“They are a pleasure to work with and we are hoping they have a great season – they have a lot of fans here!”
