GRAVESEND & Northfleet have had a club record £10,000 bid for Dover striker Matt Carruthers rejected by the Dr Marten’s League, Premier Division, club.

The Fleet had offered £5,000 down plus a further £5,000 based on appearances.

Dover chairman Mick Kemp disclosed that the offer was below their valuation while the player did not want to leave.

Carruthers underlined his potential two weeks ago when he scored twice and hit a post as Dover trounced the Fleet 3-0 in a Kent Senior Cup tie at Stonebridge Road.
