Dover boss Chris Kinnear hopes his side continue to go from strength to strength and land a blow in the promotion race when Dagenham visit Crabble on Saturday.

Kinnear claimed Tuesday night’s 6-0 win against Sutton ‘was enjoyable’ but despite the victory taking Dover back into the top-five, above the Daggers, he said: “There is still a long way to go.”

He, however, admitted: “I must say, though, a few of the top sides seem to be tumbling at the moment and we look like we’re going from strength to strength.

“We’re on a good winning run – you can forget Saturday’s abandonment at Macclesfield, it means nothing.

“After the amount of games we’ve played lately, I don’t know how the players have kept it going. They have been magnificent, as has the physio.”

Dagenham beat Dover 2-0 in Essex in September but have lost two in a week and taken just seven points from their last six games.

Kinnear said: “Dagenham were my team as a boy, I used to watch them when (manager) John Still was playing and his assistant Terry Harris was the year below me at school.

“They are not on a good run but they are a big club, they have been in League 1 and are always high-fliers at this level.

“It’s a great achievement for us to be as close to them as we are.”

Dover have already beaten Forest Green and Lincoln at Crabble this season and Kinnear said: “I don’t mind if we win by scoring one more than the other team or 1-0, we just want to win.”
