Dover Athletic fan banned for life after making abhorrent comments to Woking player about the death of his child

A Dover Athletic fan has been banned from Crabble for life after making "abhorrent" comments to a Woking player about the death of his child during Monday's Vanarama Conference game.

The incident was investigated following a report by the matchday official and club safety officer and Whites' wasted no time in taking action.

Dover chairman Jim Parmenter said: “Everyone at Dover is saddened and disgusted that such deplorable behaviour, for which there can be no mitigation, has occurred at our club.

"Our sincerest regret and apologies go to the player and his family.

"We make great effort to be welcoming, hospitable and inclusive to all and I hope that our supporters will not be judged on this one individual."

He said the individual involved would be issued with a life ban with immediate effect following the investigation.
