Dover goalkeeper Andy Rafferty

Goalkeeper Andy Rafferty was at fault with both goals as Lincoln City ended Dover’s 11-game unbeaten run at Crabble in Vanarama Conference with a 2-1 win on Saturday.

But boss Chris Kinnear has given the normally reliable Rafferty his backing, despite the poor performance.

Kinnear said: “There is no question Andy did not have his best game for us but even the best goalkeepers have off days and make mistakes. He is no exception.

“As a goalkeeper, any small mistake you make is massively highlighted and unfortunately Andy made two that hurt us against Lincoln.

“He knows he was at fault but there is no point dwelling on it. No one makes them (mistakes) on purpose.

“And besides, Andy has been absolutely brilliant for us since he joined us in September so I am not about to criticise him for one poor performance.”
