Dover boss Chris Kinnear is keeping it all in perspective, despite his side beating League 1 side Gillingham 1-0 at Crabble on Tuesday night.

Sean Raggett, a Gills fan, who was also released by the club as a 16-year-old, secured the win with a second-half header.

It was Whites’ seventh win in eight friendlies. Chris Kinnear’s men drew 2-2 against another League 1 side, Colchester, last Friday.

Despite the result against Gills, and the impressive pre-season form, Kinnear knows it’s important to remember it’s still only pre-season even though his side have now performed well against two full-time teams.

He said: “Yes, we did well against them (Gills and Colchester) and we were unlucky not to beat Colchester as well after we ran them a bit ragged in the last 15 minutes.

“We’re confident after those results but we must not get too carried away.

“It’s all developing – that’s all we’re trying to do, to find out about different players and different formations.

“Saying that, the lads have got a bit of desire about them.”
