Dover Athletic striker Ricky Miller says speculation helps his confidence grow but he is focused on success with Dover

Ricky Miller claims seeing his name linked with big-money moves away from Crabble is a confidence boost but he is concentrating on performing for Dover.

The 27-year-old forward has been the subject of speculation recently after five games out of the starting XI following his red card in the home defeat to Boreham Wood in August.

Lincoln boss Danny Cowley publicly declared his admiration for the forward earlier this month and Forest Green manager Mark Cooper claimed Miller’s hat-trick in the 4-3 win over his Rovers side, screened live on BT Sport on Saturday would “probably get him a move.”

Cooper added: “Before the game he was probably worth 50 grand but he is probably worth half-a-million now.”

Miller scored 22 goals for Whites last season but is out of contract at the end of the season meaning he could leave for nothing.

The former Luton man admitted: “It’s good to be linked and there’s people talking about this amount of money and that – it just builds to the confidence but I’m a Dover player.

“I haven’t kicked up a fuss (about being out of the side), I am just concentrating on doing my best for Dover.”

Miller’s second-half dismissal against Wood came with Dover leading, although they went on to lose 4-1 and it wasn’t until nearly four weeks later that he was restored to Chris Kinnear’s starting lineup.

Miller said: “I think I’ve kept my attitude up. I’ve been working even harder because I’ve not been getting the minutes.

"I’ve come off the bench a couple of times and got a couple of goals. (Before Tuesday night's game at Dagenham) I’ve had about 200 minutes this season and scored six goals.

“I think my attitude has been spot on. I got the gaffer’s nod and hopefully it’s paid off.”
