Striker Ricky Miller ended a nine-game goal-scoring drought as Dover registered the first away win of their Vanarama National League campaign in stunning fashion at Eastleigh on Tuesday night.

Miller scored twice – his first goals since the 3-2 home win against Kidderminster on August 11 – as boss Chris Kinnear’s side finally delivered the goals they had promised for most of the season.

Captain Jamie Grimes was happy to see Miller get the reward his performances had warranted.

Grimes said: “He’s been unlucky this season, so it had to go right for him one day – this was it.

“He was excellent and you could see the relief of having finally scored.

“After he got his first, he was a lot more relaxed and proved that by scoring a screamer late on.”

Nicky Deverdics also scored twice, while substitute Tom Murphy marked his return from a hamstring injury by getting the other.

The impressive win, Whites’ fourth of the season, sees them move up four places to 10th.

It was also Dover’s third consecutive victory against the Hampshire side.
