Dover goalkeeper Andy Rafferty didn’t get what he wanted in Monday night’s FA Cup second round draw.

Whites got a trip to League 2 side Cheltenham Town but Rafferty admits he had his fingers crossed in hope of getting his former club and another League 2 side, Hartlepool United.

Rafferty, who arrived at Crabble in September after Mitch Walker was injured in the Vanarama Conference defeat at Dartford, said that would have been the perfect draw for him.

He said: “I had four great years with them (Hartlepool) so I would have loved to have played against them. That would have been a perfect draw for me.”

Despite not getting his dream tie, Rafferty,26, who has yet to concede a goal in this season’s cup run, said he was happy to go to Cheltenham.

He said: “It’s certainly a winnable game as far as we are concerned and you can be sure that we won’t be overawed by the occasion.

“We have nothing to fear about playing League sides and we proved that with our performance against Morecambe on Saturday.”
