Jack Parkinson says he is flattered he is being linked with a move to the Football League but he is happy to remain with Dover.

Speculation is rife the versatile 26-year-old is being tracked by the likes of Port Vale, Wycombe and AFC Wimbledon after he impressed in midfield and as a goalscoring sweeper in Dover’s highest-ever finish.

Whites were fifth in the National League and though they lost over two legs in the play-off semi-final to Forest Green Rovers, the former Maidstone and Woking man signed on for another crack at promotion in 2016-17.

He admitted: “It’s nice to see your name mentioned - it hopefully shows I’ve done things right and had a decent enough season.

“I don’t pay much attention to it though, really, the phone hasn’t rung and until it does then it all means nothing.”

Parkinson opted to join Dover last summer despite interest from Leyton Orient, for whom he went on trial, and he admitted: “I’ve been in this situation before.

“Of course I would love to play in the Football League, as any player would. Every player dreams of being a professional footballer.

“I have a year left on my contract and I’m happy at Dover, it’s a good club and we have had a massive season and with a couple of good acquisitions there’s no reason

why we can’t go again next year.

“Wouldn’t it be great if I could get into the Football League with Dover.”
