Dover ended a five-game losing streak in London 1 South by beating Gosport & Fareham 31-8 at Crabble.

But coach Graham Tonks was not about to let his players get carried away by Saturday’s win, regardless of how impressive it had been.

Tonks said: “I am delighted with the win and the performance and the lads were buzzing after.

“It has been a while since they’ve enjoyed that winning feeling and they started to get carried away a bit.

“I told them to calm down and keep their feet on the ground because it’s only one win and we can’t afford to get ahead of ourselves.

“There’s a lot more rugby to be played this season and we’ve got to take it one game at a time. But saying that, it was great performance all over the park.”

Kirk Savage (2) and Ben Crawford scored the tries for Sharks, while Greg Phillips kicked all the
extras.

The win was Dover’s fifth of the season and sees them 11th ahead of the trip to seventh-placed Brighton.
